Multi-mode Machine Vision Solutions for AI Image Processing Enhancement
2025-03-14
SEOUL — Vieworks, a leading provider of medical and industrial
imaging solutions, showcased its cutting-edge AI imaging technologies during
the AI Machine Vision Technology Seminar at the Smart Factory & Automation
World (SF AW 2025), Korea’s largest industrial automation exhibition, held at
COEX from March 12 to 14.
The seminar focused on trends and applications in global machine
vision technologies. Vieworks presented its high-speed multimode imaging
solution aimed at enhancing AI image processing performance, while also
addressing current challenges in achieving greater detection discrimination—a
key metric in modern automated optical inspection (AOI).
To meet rising demands for systems capable of identifying complex
defects under varied imaging conditions, Vieworks introduced two optimized AOI
solutions: the TDI Dual Imaging Solution and the Area Multimode
Imaging Solution.
The TDI Dual Imaging Solution features a 0.5-micrometer resolution
and combines high-sensitivity cameras with ultra-precise lenses. Its backside
illuminated (BSI) TDI line scan camera offers 1.8 times the sensitivity of
conventional models, enabling enhanced defect detection in low-light
environments. The solution captures both bright field and dark field images in
a single scan, making it ideal for identifying foreign materials and defects in
processes such as backplane and EVEN (Evaporation and Encapsulation) during
display panel production.
The Area Multimode Imaging Solution, with 1-micrometer resolution
and CoaXPress-over-Fiber interface, supports capture speeds of up to 454 frames
per second. It simultaneously acquires four types of images—including RGB color
and dark field—during high-speed motion. This capability enables wide
application in display and semiconductor packaging inspections, as well as PCB
substrate defect detection.
“Traditional AOI systems require multiple lighting setups to detect
various defect types, leading to higher deployment costs and time,” said
Hyukhoon Kwon, Director of Vieworks’ Optical Imaging Research Center. “Our
solutions integrate autofocus and multi-image acquisition to provide customers
with an efficient, one-stop machine vision platform.”
